By The Remodeling Company October 17, 2026 4 min read ![Remodeled primary bathroom in Fort Myers, FL with floating double vanity, white vessel sinks, brushed-gold faucets, backlit LED mirror and textured tile feature wall](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/primary-bathroom-floating-vanity.jpg) This project started as a bathroom remodel and grew into something bigger. Instead of updating one bathroom at a time, the homeowners asked us to redesign every bathroom in the house as a single project. Along the way we turned the old laundry room into a brand-new full bathroom. Here's what we did in each room, and why doing them together made sense. ## The plan: one design for the whole house When bathrooms get remodeled one at a time over several years, they rarely match. Tile goes out of production, finishes change, and the house ends up with three different styles. We avoided that by picking one set of materials and carrying it through every room: - **Large-format porcelain** on the floors and walls, which means fewer grout lines and less to clean - **Frameless glass** shower panels instead of framed doors and curtains - **Brushed-gold fixtures** for faucets, shower heads, mirrors and drains - **Warm wood-tone vanities** to keep the gray porcelain from feeling cold Each bathroom has its own layout, but walking from one to the next, they clearly belong to the same house. ## Laundry room to full bathroom The biggest change was a room that wasn't a bathroom at all. The old laundry room was a long, narrow space with gray cabinets along one side. It didn't get much use. ![Before and after: a narrow laundry room with gray cabinets converted into a full bathroom with a walk-in shower in Fort Myers, FL](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/laundry-to-bathroom-before-after.webp) Now it's a full bathroom with a walk-in shower behind a frameless glass panel, a floating wood vanity with an integrated sink, and a round brushed-gold mirror. The large porcelain tile runs floor to ceiling and wraps into the shower. ![New full bathroom in a converted laundry room with walk-in shower, frameless glass panel, floating wood vanity and round brushed-gold mirror](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/laundry-room-bathroom-walk-in-shower.webp) Converting a laundry room works well because the room already has a water supply and a drain. That doesn't mean the plumbing is ready for a bathroom. A toilet needs a larger drain line and proper venting, a shower needs real waterproofing, and the room needs an exhaust fan. In Lee County, that work needs a permit. Our guide to [remodeling permits in Lee County](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/blog/do-i-need-permit-kitchen-remodel-lee-county) covers how that process works. Adding a bathroom is one of the more useful changes you can make to a home. It's another bathroom for guests or family, and it adds real value to the house. ## Guest bathroom: from tub and dark tile to a curbless shower The guest bathroom had a tub with a shower curtain, dark tile on the floor and walls, and a black countertop. With one small window, the room felt dark even with the lights on. ![Before and after: dated guest bathroom with tub, shower curtain and dark tile remodeled into a bright bathroom with a curbless walk-in shower](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/guest-bathroom-before-after.webp) We took out the tub and replaced it with a **curbless shower**. There's no step or curb at the entry. The floor runs straight into the shower and slopes to the drain. A single frameless glass panel keeps water in without closing off the room, and a recessed niche holds shampoo and soap. ![Remodeled guest bathroom with curbless shower, frameless glass panel, recessed shower niche, light porcelain tile and floating wood vanity](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/guest-bathroom-curbless-shower.webp) Light porcelain, a floating vanity, and the open shower make the room feel much larger than it is. A curbless shower is also easier to step into, which matters if you plan to stay in the home for the long haul. ## Primary bathroom: floating vanity and a feature wall The primary bathroom had a long built-in vanity with a speckled granite top, a strip of bulb lights above the mirror, and a framed shower with frosted sliding doors. ![Before and after: primary bathroom with granite double vanity and frosted sliding shower doors remodeled with a floating double vanity, vessel sinks and backlit LED mirror](https://www.theremodelingcompanyswfl.com/images/blog/three-bathroom-remodel/primary-bathroom-before-after.webp) The new vanity wall is the centerpiece of the house: - A **floating double vanity** in warm wood with two white vessel sinks and tall brushed-gold faucets - A **backlit LED mirror** that lights the face evenly, without the glare of a bulb strip - A **textured tile feature wall** that runs behind the vanity, between two windows - **Open white shelving** on both sides and in the center for towels and everyday items Lifting the vanity off the floor keeps the floor tile visible all the way to the wall, which makes the room feel bigger and is easier to clean underneath. ## Thinking about your own bathrooms? Often, yes. A laundry room already has a water supply and a drain, which gives you a head start. A bathroom still needs a properly sized toilet drain, venting, an exhaust fan, waterproofing for the shower, and a permit. Whether it works in your home depends on the room's size and where the existing plumbing runs. ### Is it better to remodel all the bathrooms at once? For many homes, yes. Doing them as one project means one design, one set of matching finishes, one permit process, and one stretch of construction instead of several. The trade-off is that the house has fewer working bathrooms during the project, so we plan the order of work around that. ### What is a curbless shower? A curbless shower has no step or curb at the entry. The bathroom floor continues straight into the shower, which slopes gently to a drain. It looks open and modern, and it is easier to walk into, which matters for aging in place. It takes careful floor preparation and waterproofing to build correctly. ### How do you make several bathrooms look like they belong together? Repeat a small set of materials through every room. In this project that meant large-format porcelain, frameless glass, brushed-gold fixtures and warm wood-tone vanities. Each bathroom has its own layout and personality, but the shared palette ties the house together. #bathrooms #before-and-after #project #fort-myers #lee-county ## Related articles ### How Much Does a Bathroom Remodel Cost in Fort Myers in 2026?
